3sUP CWL Recap
This past weekend the 3sUP Call of Duty team was invited to sunny Burbank, California for the Call of Duty World League Qualifier. The North American qualifier was divided up into four different pools consisting of four teams within each pool. The format for this tournament was set up to where you needed to win two matches before you lost two matches. If you won two matches within your assigned pool before you lost two matches then you were qualified for the world league.
3sUP’s pool consisted of Rise Nation, Luminosity Gaming and eLevate. Friday afternoon was our first matchup of the weekend as we took on Rise Nation. This series was surprisingly a lot closer in map count than many had originally predicted as 3sUP took Rise all the way to a fifth map. However, 3sUP would fall short on the final map, Redwood Search and Destroy concluding our involvement with play on Friday.
Saturday’s win or go home matchup put us up against Luminosity Gaming. Luminosity had also lost their first round matchup on Friday to eLevate and was looking to bounce back. This series between 3sUP and Luminosity was also very close when it came to round count. However, Luminosity would close out the first three maps including a 5-2 comeback on Infection Search and Destroy eliminating 3sUP from the qualifier.
What happens now you might ask? All of the teams that did not qualify in Burbank will compete for the final four league spots through an online qualifier taking place starting Monday, December 14th and ending on Friday, December 18th.
